Call for papers 

The conference will have 4 parallel sessions, with individual presentations expected to last 15–20 minutes (e.g., paper with a maximum length of 2000 words), followed by discussion.

Topics

We invite academic scholars, researchers and clinicians to submit papers on the following topics in relation to Lacanian psychoanalysis (this list is inspirational, not exhaustive):

  • Close readings of Lacan’s teaching and writing
  • Conceptual research and methodological developments in Lacanian psychoanalysis
  • Clinical practice in the contemporary shift, including case studies and analytic interventions within institutions
  • Interdisciplinary dialogues with philosophy, phenomenology, politics, criminology, and psychiatry
  • Qualitative, quantitative, and conceptual methodologies in the study of Lacanian psychoanalysis
  • Dialogues within the field of psychoanalysis with other schools
  • Cultural, social, and critical studies in art, feminism, gender, queer theory, and decolonialization
  • Contemporary societal and technological contexts in relation to digitality, media, AI, war, genocide, pollution, and ecological issues

Paper Proposal

Please send your proposals to: Lacantodayconference@ugent.be – mentioning ‘Paper Proposal 2026 Lacan Today Conference’ or in the subject box. Paper submissions (WORD format) should have between 450 and 500 words. Your submission should make clear the point you will discuss, as well as provide an overview of your overall line of reasoning. The first page of your submission should include your name, the submission title, institutional affiliation, phone and email. The second page of the submission should include your title and the 450-500 word proposal. Proposals should be submitted by April 29th, 2026, and will be peer reviewed. Acceptance will be announced by May 15th, 2026.

We also invite you to propose panels for the conference. A panel proposal should contain 3 papers and be chaired by an additional person. Please send your proposals to: Lacantodayconference@ugent.be – mentioning ‘Panel Proposal 2026 Lacan Today Conference’ or in the subject box. Within one panel submission (WORD format), the first page should include all 3 presenters’ and the panel chair’s names, submission titles, institutional affiliations, phone numbers, and emails. Each one should provide an overview of their work in 450–500 words, making clear the point to be discussed. Also, the links between the 3 papers should be logically implied in the submission. Proposals should be submitted by April 29th, 2026, and will be peer reviewed. Acceptance will be announced by May 15th, 2026.

Poster submissions

Lacan Today 2026 welcomes and expects a more diverse dialogue with other fields. If you are interested in bringing your work (e.g., artwork, performance) to the venue, please contact us with your ideas or any questions via the following email: zhuoxuan.li@ugent.be The organizing team is exploring the possibility of an exhibition that would open a dialogue between Lacanian psychoanalysis and contemporary art. More information will follow soon.
