Call for papers 

The conference will have 4 parallel sessions, where papers with a maximum length of 2000 words can be presented (15-20 minutes) and discussed.

Topics

We invite academic scholars, researchers and clinicians to submit papers on the following topics in relation to Lacanian psychoanalysis (this list is inspirational, not exhaustive):

  • Conceptual research and close reading of texts and seminars
  • Clinical work, including case studies and psychoanalytic interventions within institutions
  • Lacanian psychoanalysis in social science and medical research
  • Lacanian psychoanalysis in cultural, social, and critical studies
  • Qualitative, quantitative, and conceptual methodologies in the study of Lacanian psychoanalysis
  • Dialogues with philosophy and phenomenology
  • Dialogues with other psychoanalytic schools
  • The use of Lacanian psychoanalysis in academic and cultural critique, and academic and cultural critiques of Lacanian psychoanalysis

Paper Proposal

We also invite you to propose panels for the conference. A panel proposal should contain 3 papers and be chaired by an additional person. Please send your proposals to: Lacantodayconference@ugent.be – mentioning ‘Paper Proposal 2024 Lacan Today Conference’ or ‘Panel Proposal 2024 Lacan Today Conference’ in the subject box.

Paper submissions (WORD format) should have between 450 and 500 words. Your submission should make clear the point you will discuss, as well as provide an overview of your overall line of reasoning. The first page of your submission should include your name, the submission title, institutional affiliation, phone and email. The second page of the submission should include your title and the 450-500 word proposal. Panel submissions (WORD format) should contain all individual paper submissions, and additionally also mention the panel chair (name, institutional affiliation, phone and email). Proposals should be submitted by April 29th, 2024, and will be peer reviewed. Acceptance will be announced by May 15th, 2024.

Poster submissions

We welcome poster submissions from both graduate(+) and undergraduate students. Posters covering a broad spectrum of subjects associated with Lacanian psychoanalysis are encouraged. Please submit abstracts for posters, preferably in Word format, with an approximate length of 300 words. Submissions can revolve around a specific theme, explore emerging research areas, or delve into interdisciplinary projects connected to Lacanian psychoanalysis.
